Raigarh
VISA Steel has signed an MoU with the Government of Chhattisgarh for setting up a 2.5 million integrated Steel Plant at Raigarh in two phases of 1.25 TPA each with 500 MW Captive Power Plant.
The production facilities will include Iron Ore Pellet Plant, Coal Washeries, Sponge Iron Plants, Power Plants, Coke Oven Plants, Sinter Plants, Blast Furnaces, Steel Melt Shop and Rebar / Wire Rod / Section Mill.

Location and logistics
The Plant is located in close proximity to the Raigarh Coalfields situated only 30 Km away. It is also in close proximity to Iron Ore deposits in Bastar area of Chhattisgarh and the Joda-Barbil area of Orissa and Jharkhand. The nearest Railway Station is Kotarlia which is on the main Mumbai – Kolkata Railway line which offers good logistics for inward movement of raw materials and outward despatches of finished products.
Raw material linkages
The Company plans to integrate backwards to the mining of Iron Ore and Coal in Chhattisgarh. Captive Iron Ore mining leases in Chhattisgarh are presently under the process of allotment by the Government and Coal Block is under consideration by Ministry of Coal.
Process and technology
- Iron Ore Fines shall be beneficiated and pelletised for conversion into Sponge Iron, a low cost metallic input for steel making.
- Waste Heat and middlings from the Coal Washery shall be used to generate low cost power for captive use.
- Modern Steel Melt Shop and Rolling Mill for producing high quality Rebars, Wire Rods and Sections for use in construction industry.
VISA Steel Ltd (Chhattisgarh Project) has obtained the Environmental clearance from the Ministry of Environment and Forest, New Delhi, for its 2.5 MTPA fully Integrated Steel Plant with 500 MW Captive Power Plant at Raigarh, Chhattisgarh.
