VISA Steel Limited is a subsidiary of VISA Infrastructure Limited. The VISA Group is a minerals, metals and energy conglomerate with business interests in Steel, Power, Cement, International Trading and Urban Infrastructure etc.
VISA Steel is a leading player in the Indian Special Steel and Ferro Chrome. It has its Registered office in Bhubaneswar; Corporate office in Kolkata and Branch offices across India. The Company is setting up an integrated 1 million TPA Special Steel Plant at Kalinganagar Industrial Complex in Odisha. The first phase of 0.5 million TPA Special Steel Long Product Plant is fully operational. The facilities include a 225,000 TPA Pig Iron Plant, 300,000 TPA Sponge Iron Plant, 500,000 TPA Steel Melt Shop (with EAF, LRF and VD) & 500,000 TPA Rolling Mill (Bar & Wire Rod Mill). VISA Steel is also operating 50,000 TPA Ferro Chrome Plant and a 75 MW Captive Power Plant.
The Company plans to integrate backwards to the mining of iron ore, chrome ore and coal. Captive iron ore mining leases in Odisha are presently under the process of allotment by the Government. A chrome ore deposit in Odisha is proposed to be developed through Ghotaringa Minerals Limited, a subsidiary of the Company.
VISA Steel also plans to set up a fully integrated Steel Plant at Raigarh in Chhattisgarh. The Company also plans to set up a Steel Plant and a Manganese Alloy Plant in Madhya Pradesh.
The Company plans to integrate backwards to the mining of Iron Ore in Chhattisgarh and Manganese Ore in MP for which grant of captive lease is presently under the process of allotment by the Government.
VISA BAO Limited
VISA Steel has entered into a joint venture with Baosteel Resources Co. Ltd. to add value to Odisha’s vast reserves of Chrome Ore by conversion & value addition of the same into Ferro Chrome. VISA BAO Limited is setting up a 4 x 18 MVA Submerged Arc Furnaces for production of 100,000 TPA Ferro Chrome Plant at Kalinganagar in Odisha wherein VISA Steel holds 65% stake and Baosteel holds the balance 35% stake.
China is the largest producer of Stainless Steel globally and accounts for majority of global stainless steel production. Ferrochrome is a vital ingredient for production of stainless steel. The Joint Venture offers a win-win situation for VISA Steel to add value to Chrome Ore within Odisha and a secure market and for Baosteel to have a secure Ferro Chrome source for its Stainless Steel production.
The Company will add value to the locally available Chrome Ore and Chrome Concentrates into Ferro Chrome. The ferro chrome produced at this plant will be sold in India and also exported to China, Japan, S. Korea, Taiwan, Europe & USA etc.
VISA SunCoke Limited
VISA SunCoke Limited, a joint venture company between VISA Steel Limited and SunCoke Energy, USA, is operating a 400,000 MT per annum heat recovery coke plant and associated steam generation units at Kalinganagar in Odisha. VISA Steel is holding 51% stake and SunCoke Energy is holding 49% stake in VISA SunCoke.

SunCoke Energy is recognized as a leading provider of heat recovery coke making technology that meets or exceeds applicable environmental standards.
Ghotaringa Minerals Limited
A subsidiary of VISA Steel (with a shareholding of 89% and the balance 11% held by Orissa Industries Limited) has prospected an area for Chrome Ore in the Dhenkanal district of Odisha which is under development.
